Self-service digital advertising platforms like Google Ads, Meta (Facebook & Instagram ads) and LinkedIn love to try and help DIY advertisers.The problem? Most of this help isn’t actually in your best interests as an advertiser.In this video, I explain how digital ad platforms are wasting YOUR money and negatively impacting the performance of your advertising with their attempts to help (which ultimately is about lining their pockets at your expense).Google Ads, Facebook/Meta Ads, LinkedIn Ads – all of these platforms try to assist you by showing tool tips and pointers throughout the campaign setup process – but many of these pointers actually not serving in YOUR best interests.For example, Google will recommend that you opt your search advertising in to the display partners network (and do this for you by default, warning you if you turn this off) but you should never combine search and display advertising without good reason – at least not in a regular search campaign – as display and search serve different purposes.In this video I’ll explain what these common pitfalls are, and how to avoid wasting your digital advertising budget on the basis of the “free help” that Google, Facebook, LinkedIn etc all like to give you.
